Reconsidering vector control

Those who question the effects mosquito control operations may have on the food chain, etc. ad nauseum, should read about vector control. There are a number of documented mosquito control programs that eradicated the target species -and the diseases they carried- from very large areas without Nature getting the hiccups. These programs succeeded without any of today's technology or materials. Those protesting mosquito control efforts should spend some time (in person, not virtually) in the areas where malaria mosquitoes are killing people at a rate of one every two minutes or so and witness the effects of malaria on a child and the family's emotional and financial well-being, see what encephalitis will do to a person or watch the effects of Chagas Disease on a family. At the very minimum, try to spend an evening on the beach feeding mosquitoes and sand flies, etc. and imagine not being able to leave that scenario.
